5. DO WE SELL PERSONAL INFORMATION?
We do not sell personal information for money.
We do use targeted advertising. Some privacy laws define certain targeted advertising, cross-context behavioral advertising, or ad measurement activities as “selling,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising,” even when no money is exchanged for personal information. Where those laws apply, you may have the right to opt out of those uses.
To opt out, contact us at hello@budgets.money. We will also honor applicable browser or device opt-out preference signals where required by law and technically feasible.
6. DO WE USE COOKIES AND TARGETED ADVERTISING?
Yes. We may use cookies, pixels, local storage, SDKs, web beacons, and similar technologies to:
- keep the Service secure and functional;
- remember preferences;
- understand Service usage;
- measure performance;
- improve features and content;
- run analytics; and
- deliver and measure targeted advertising.
You can usually adjust browser settings to remove or reject cookies. Some features may not work properly without cookies. You may also opt out of some interest-based advertising through industry tools such as https://www.aboutads.info/choices/ and https://optout.networkadvertising.org/.
7. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent fraud, improve the Service, and support legitimate business purposes.
If you request deletion, we will delete or de-identify personal information associated with your account unless we need to retain certain information for legal, security, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute resolution, backup, or legitimate business purposes.
8. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and using the Service from a secure environment.
9. DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM CHILDREN?
No. The Service is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from or market to children under 18.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. If you believe we have collected information from a person under 18, please contact us at hello@budgets.money.
10. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?
Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have the right to:
- access personal information we maintain about you;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- delete personal information;
- receive a copy of personal information in a portable format;
- opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or sharing as those terms are defined by applicable law;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- appeal our decision regarding a privacy request where required by law; and
- opt out of marketing communications.
You may review and update certain account information in your account settings. You may request access, correction, deletion, export, advertising opt-out, or other privacy rights by contacting hello@budgets.money.
We may need to verify your identity before processing a request. We may deny or limit requests where permitted by law, such as when retaining information is necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or legitimate business purposes.
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link in those emails or by contacting us. We may still send service-related messages.
Delete your Budgets account and data
To request deletion in the app, open Account settings → Personal information → Danger zone → Delete account, and confirm with your password.
If you cannot sign in or have uninstalled the app, email hello@budgets.money from the email address associated with your account, with the subject Delete my Budgets account. You do not need to reinstall the app. Do not send your password. We may ask you to verify account ownership.
What is deleted: If you own a household, deletion removes the household and its members’ Budgets logins and associated budgeting data, including budgets, transactions, linked-account records, recurring items, labels, and settings. It also cancels the household’s active subscription. If you are a household member, deleting your login does not delete the owner’s shared household or its budgeting records.
We revoke linked bank connections as part of household deletion. This does not close your bank accounts. We automatically request deletion of the departing users’ PostHog profiles, events, and session recordings. PostHog processes these requests asynchronously. Support records in Chatwoot are handled manually by our support team as part of verified data-deletion requests; they are not removed immediately by the in-app action. Contact hello@budgets.money for the status of a request or help completing provider cleanup.
Payment records: Deleting your Budgets account removes your budgeting data, subject to the household and backup details on this page. Payment, invoice, and refund records remain with Stripe for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, and dispute handling, subject to Stripe’s retention policies. Applicable Google Play billing reports and related reconciliation records are also retained for billing and dispute handling. Account deletion does not erase the record of completed payments or refunds.
Backup copies: Automatic database backups are retained for six days. Manual recovery snapshots can be retained longer and may have no automatic expiration; they remain until manually removed. Other recovery snapshots may have their own expiration dates. Deleting an account from the active service does not immediately erase copies in existing backups.
To request deletion of specific information while keeping your account, email hello@budgets.money and describe the information you want removed. We will explain any effect on shared household data, your account, and any applicable retention requirements.
11. U.S. STATE PRIVACY RIGHTS
Residents of certain U.S. states, including California and Texas, may have additional privacy rights under applicable state privacy laws.
California residents:
California residents may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of personal information; to opt out of sale or sharing of personal information; to limit certain uses of sensitive personal information; and to be free from discrimination for exercising privacy rights.
We do not sell personal information for money. We do use targeted advertising and ad measurement tools, which may be considered “sharing” or “selling” under California privacy law. California residents may opt out by contacting hello@budgets.money.
Texas residents:
Texas residents may have rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of personal data; to opt out of targeted advertising, sale of personal data, or certain profiling; and to appeal a decision regarding a privacy request.
We do not sell personal data for money. We do use targeted advertising. Texas residents may opt out by contacting hello@budgets.money.
Authorized agents and appeals:
Where applicable law allows, you may use an authorized agent to submit a privacy request. We may require proof of authorization and identity verification. If we deny a request and applicable law gives you a right to appeal, you may appeal by replying to our decision email or contacting hello@budgets.money with “Privacy Appeal” in the subject line.
12. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK AND OPT-OUT SIGNALS
Some browsers offer “Do Not Track” signals. There is not a uniform industry standard for responding to Do Not Track, so we do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals.
Where required by applicable law, we will honor recognized browser or device opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control, for opt-out rights that apply to targeted advertising, sale, or sharing.
13. DO WE MAKE UPDATES TO THIS POLICY?
Yes. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated “Last updated” date and will be effective when posted unless a later effective date is stated. If we make material changes, we may notify you by posting a notice, sending a message, or using another reasonable method.
14. HOW CAN YOU CONTACT US?
For questions, requests, or privacy concerns, please email hello@budgets.money.
